Hertfordshire County Council: Posit Deployment

The Challenge

Hertfordshire County Council’s Public Health Evidence & Intelligence team required a data science platform to undertake and publish analytics, ranging from creating automated reports describing the population’s health to machine learning models predicting hospital admission. Whilst the team were experienced with Posit Team and GitLab, they lacked the expertise to create and manage the platform with the required stability and security. An additional challenge was that the platform had to span across several local partner organisations with their IT systems and had tight delivery timescales.

The Project

Working with the Public Health Evidence & Intelligence team, we developed an iterative release plan that would deliver the required systems at the pace required to ensure a smooth transition and minimise downtime of critical dashboards, and ensure that risks were well understood and managed.

Our Results

This was a fast-moving project where requirements had to be rapidly prioritised. The result has been a scalable managed service, removing the need for specialist in-house IT expertise whilst guaranteeing availability and updates. By designing a robust system, we have enabled the Public Health team to undertake some management of the system themselves, ensuring the system remains flexible as their needs develop.
